Pardon the language, but I am currently in a state of shock because I may have just found a strong contender for my favorite book of 2019: this is one of the most original, imaginative, and straight-up weird things I’ve read in a while, and I am in love.īecause truly, this has a bizarre premise! Right from the start, the author establishes this sense of mystery in a supposedly standard fantasy world, and one begins falling into a false sense of security.

This book follows Neverfell in finding out the truth about her past, the mystery behind her face, and the secrets clouding Caverna and its citizens. He also warns her not to seek out high society, but Neverfell has always sought to escape her confines in search of new experiences. But one look at her terrifying face, and her new caretaker insists she keep her face hidden under a mask. Neverfell is found wandering the underground city of Caverna as a little girl with no memory of her past.
